Lewiston, ME - On Saturday, April 14, 2018, Community Credit Union hosted a Community Recycle Day to help community members do their part in celebrating Earth Day.

The purpose of the event is to highlight the importance of recycling and the collaboration of local organizations that offer recycling options to this community.

Several local organizations joined forces to make this event a success including Community Credit Union, e-Waste Recycling Solutions, Records Management’s Shredding On Site, SHARECenter and Stratham Tire. The following was recycled as a result of the event:

  • 10,808 pounds of electronics

  • 140 tires

  • 1,945 pounds of paper for shredding

  • a truckload of items went to the ShareCenter to be repurposed in our community

“The weather was chilly but the community is dedicated to recycling and so are our volunteers. We saw many familiar faces along with new community members joining us for this year’s event!” said Recycle Day Coordinator, Natalie Michaud.

Community Credit Union runs a program they designed called “Do Your Part” each quarter. It encourages members to do their part in saving the Earth by participating in different recycling opportunities including the recycling of cell phones and eye glasses. They also periodically hold shredding events within the branches. Visit www.communitycreditunion.com to learn more about upcoming community efforts.
